Injection Molding Simulations

Moldex3D – fewer defects, shorter implementation time, lower production costs.

INJECTION MOLDING SIMULATIONS

Every part has its own story.

From the designer’s very first line, through mold concept development, all the way to serial production. At Hanplast, we believe that the key to success lies in predicting problems before they occur. That is why, even before production begins, we carry out a comprehensive injection molding process simulation using dedicated CAE software for numerical analysis – Moldex3D, a tool trusted worldwide by leading manufacturers of plastic components.

Injection molding simulation is a digital mold trial that allows us to shorten product implementation time, optimize process parameters and, above all, minimize the risk of costly errors already at the early stage of the project. Using advanced computer analyses, we predict potential deformations, analyze the cooling cycle, identify weld lines and air traps, and then develop solutions to ensure the part meets the required dimensional tolerances, maintains high surface aesthetics and fulfills all customer requirements.

Our support includes

Comprehensive range of analyses

A full range of analyses – from part geometry, through mold filling and cooling, to solving potential process issues:

  • Part geometry – we verify the manufacturability of the component, assess the impact of design changes on the injection molding process and optimize the geometry while analyzing possibilities for weight reduction, increased stiffness and fulfillment of all customer requirements.

  • Mold filling – we analyze uniform material flow and cavity balancing, gate location, weld lines and air traps, process parameter selection, as well as identifying areas requiring venting. This helps reduce the risk of surface defects and optimize injection molding machine selection, ultimately lowering the cost of the final product.

  • Mold cooling – we simulate both conventional and conformal cooling channels, identify hot spots and recommend modifications aimed at improving heat dissipation in critical areas, thereby reducing cycle time and minimizing deformation.

  • Problem solving – we predict the risk of part warpage, select appropriate materials and process parameters, and when necessary, modify the cooling system, gate locations or part geometry to meet all customer requirements – aesthetic, functional and dimensional.

In summary

Moldex3d

It gives us the ability to simulate the entire injection molding process – from cavity filling to predicting deformation of the finished part. Thanks to this, we are able to provide our customers with tailor-made solutions: technologically reliable, cost-optimized and adapted to the specific characteristics of the product – whether it is a visual component, a technical part or a glass fiber reinforced component.

At Hanplast, we combine the experience of our engineers with the power of simulation to ensure that every injection mold is refined before it reaches the production floor. This is why our partners gain confidence that their product will perform, look and cost exactly as intended.

PhD Eng. Krzysztof Wilczyński

He is a graduate of the Warsaw University of Technology and specializes in modeling polymer processing technologies. Already in his master’s thesis, as one of the first researchers in the world, he addressed the engineering-critical topic of computer simulation of the uneven filling phenomenon in geometrically balanced cavity systems in injection molds. This work resulted in his first scientific publications both in Poland and internationally.
